Yam Behar
Best part about moving to California?
Definitely getting the opportunity to skate with my homies and the best skaters in the world every day. Everything is happening around here. Since I was very young, I already
knew I’d move here when I was grown.
Biggest inspiration?
I grew up watching Bob Burnquist, Tony Hawk, Danny Way and Colin McKay skate all the time. From my generation, I’ve always looked up to Trey Wood and Tom Schaar. I also asked Trey for some advice when I was younger and we always laugh about it.
Favorite country you’ve traveled to recently?
Definitely Brazil or South Africa. It’s a trip that I get to see all these places, thanks to skating. I’m so thankful for traveling from such a young age and getting to see
different places and learn about different cultures. Those things are priceless.
What trick are you working on now?
I have been working on having a good time! It’s been a crazy long two years of practicing and competing in the Olympic qualifiers. Now I’m trying to focus more on having a good time, filming, traveling and just skating. I have always wanted to learn fs rodeos and will definitely try to get those down in the near future.
Frontside or backside grinds?
Fs grinds all day!
Best person to have on the session?
Each and every single one of my homies! I love skating with Josh Dirksen. We always push each other. Also watching Tom Schaar skate blows my mind every single time.
Coolest part about having your own shoe?
It still feels pretty crazy having my name on a shoe. Seeing kids skating them blows my mind every time. The whole process of making them and designing them was pretty cool. I’m so thankful I got to experience this whole project. Can’t thank P448 enough for the opportunity.
Most fun contest you’ve skated recently?
Tampa Pro Concrete Jam was one of the sickest contests I’ve ever skated, by far. Everything about it was just so sick. I have this vivid memory of Grant Taylor doing a fat frontside ollie right in front of my eyes. Probably one of the best memories I have from skating.
Am who should be pro?
That’s a tough one… there are so many.
I’d say Dylan Jaeb. He’s just the best.
What’s next for you going into 2025?
I’m in the process of filming a full part right now so I’ll definitely finish it up, travel to a few new places, meet new people, skate a few events and have fun.
What does skateboarding mean to you?
It means everything to me. I truly believe skateboarding have saved my life. I’ve dealt with a lot of mental health issues growing up and skating has been my best friend. It’s the best thing that ever happened to me. I am very lucky to have such supportive friends and people behind me. I’d like to thank Monster Energy, Pylon Skateboards, Bones, Indy, P448 for supporting me and thank you Downward for the opportunity!
